چکیده

This paper deals with modelling the effect of local fibre volume fraction variability, misalignment and strength variability on longitudinal tensile unidirectional plies finite element analysis. Variability is accounted for by generating spatially-correlated fields fraction. information then translated into mechanical properties orientations in models ply, which are virtually tested tension. Monte Carlo simulations were performed to evaluate different sources material i.e. strength, misalignment. Ply predictions lowered when including modelling, showing a better agreement experiments carbon/epoxy system investigated.

Effect of inter-laminar fibre orientation on the tensile properties of sisal fibre reinforced polyester composites

In this present work, effects of interlamina fibre orientation on the tensile properties of composites were studied and the results were discussed. The varying types of fibre oriented composites were prepared using the compression moulding technique at a pressure of 17 MPa. The different types of oriented composites investigated were 90o/0 o /90 o, 0 o /90 o /0 o, 90 o /0 o /0 o /90 o, 0 o /45 ...

On longitudinal compressive failure of carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer: from unidirectional to woven, and from virgin to recycled.

Modelling the longitudinal compressive failure of carbon-fibre-reinforced composites has been attempted for decades. Despite many developments, no single model has surfaced to provide simultaneously a definitive explanation for the micromechanics of failure as well as validated predictions for a generic stress state. This paper explores the reasons for this, by presenting experimental data (inc...

On the Elastic Moduli of Unidirectional Fibre Reinforced Composites

A simple analytical technique is presented for obtaining lower bounds to the effective moduli of unidirec-tional fibre-reinforced composites with any repetitive array of fibres. The analysis depends upon a direct method involving stress-equilibrium and strain-continuity considerations, and thus it differs from the type of analysis due to Hashin and Hill (and others) involving variational method...

Effect of Chemical Treatments on Flax Fibre Reinforced Polypropylene Composites on Tensile and Dome Forming Behaviour

Tensile tests were performed on two different natural fibre composites (same constituent material, similar fibre fraction and thickness but different weave structure) to determine changes in mechanical properties caused by various aqueous chemical treatments and whether any permanent changes remain on drying. Scanning electronic microscopic examinations suggested that flax fibres and the flax/p...

an investigation of the impact of self monitoring on langauge teachers motivational practice and its effect on learners motivation

the central purpose of this study was to conduct a case study about the role of self monitoring in teacher’s use of motivational strategies. furthermore it focused on how these strategies affected students’ motivational behavior. although many studies have been done to investigate teachers’ motivational strategies use (cheng & d?rnyei, 2007; d?rnyei & csizer, 1998; green, 2001, guilloteaux & d?...
